In February 1999, a tracker trailer truck carrying 80,000 pounds of PVC pipe crossed the median on our local interstate highway. Coming in the opposite direction was a small car with a lone occupant in it. The truck hit a steel column and the small car. My son John was in the car. He lost his life. In our mind-numbing grief, someone hired a lawyer from out of town for us. This lawyer had different ideas on how to pursue the case we now had. So we terminated his services after three weeks.

We realized we would have to find our own lawyer. Having never had to hire the services of a lawyer for anything of this magnitude, we had no idea where to turn. Through what we feel was divine intervention, entered Lance Cooper. Within 30 minutes of talking to us on the telephone, he came to our home to discuss our case.

After telling Lance all that had happened, we let him know that all we wanted him to do was find out the reasons why and how. In words I'll never forget he said, "I cannot give you the reason why this happened to John, but I can tell you we will find out how." We hired his services. His kindness to us-as strangers-during the time he was in our home was exemplary.

Lance stood true to his word. He worked tirelessly on our case. He found out all the "hows" even though hearing it was devastating to us. Once in the courtroom, he did a wonderful job of presenting all the evidence. We were dealing with three separate entities in our case so in the courtroom it was Lance against almost eight attorneys and others involved. The defense attorneys were trying to eat us alive. Everything Lance said, they came against. One thing that really showed me the kind of person Lance is and the character he exemplifies was when a defense attorney brought something into the case which had no relevance to anything concerning us. He was shouting at the judge and Lance over something he had seen.

Lance stood up and respectfully, calmly and peacefully, spoke to the judge and told him that he felt what this lawyer had done was totally uncalled for. Lance did not repay evil for evil. He acted in a way that caused me to respect his position even more than ever. After this incident, we knew that if anyone could win our case for us, it would be Lance.

I said all that to say this, my family and I thank Lance from the bottom of our hearts for winning our cases. For being fair and honest to us. For having compassion and understanding and patience in a time that was extremely difficult for us. For being positive and persevering on our behalf. He and his team are to be commended for going over and above what I feel a lawyer and his associates are responsible to do.

He continues to be in our thoughts and prayers. Lance will be recommended if we ever know of anyone needing a lawyer. He will be used again by us if the need ever arises. Lance still takes time out of his busy days to contact us now and then to see how we are doing. We are so grateful he has chosen to remain our friend. God bless you and your business Lance.
