Here are ten simple steps to preventing accidents. These are great to share with teenagers.
What Makes a Car Safe for Your Familypublished on 2.4.2008 at 10:21 am Here are ten safety features that are most important to consider when looking for a family vehicle. My Space, A Good First Steppublished on 1.16.2008 at 9:00 am We have all heard the horror stories of sexual predators using modern technology to meet children and then subsequently sexually abuse, rape, and even in some cases murder, these children. My Space has received criticism in the past for not properly screening its users to block sex offenders from being on the system. Thankfully, My Space has just reached an agreement with 45 states to add new policies to protect minors on its system by blocking sex offenders from accessing the system. Read further about the My Spaces efforts at: My Space, states move to block offenders. Right now, The Cooper Firm is representing a number of families whose children have been the victims of technology predators. These predators are accessing phone chat systems which children also have access to, and then, once they find these children, sexually abuse, and many times, rape them. One of the primary purposes of these lawsuits is to either get these companies to change the way they are doing business or have them shut down. Our cases involve the Quest Phone Chat Systems operated by First Media, a Canadian company. We are asking the company to implement adequate age verification procedures so that children are not able to access the system. We are also asking the company to implement policies similar to the My Space policy whereby they screen their system for sexual predators. So far, the company has dug in its heels and chosen not to change the way it is doing business. Fortunately, the trial judge said these cases will be heard by a jury which will ultimately be able to tell this company it either changes the way it is doing business or it will be put out of business. If you have children, please be careful to monitor not only their computer access but also their access to these telephone chat systems either on their cell phone, or many times, from your home. We found that many times these children have telephone conversations with these sexual predators and, within days, are sexually abused and raped. Therefore, vigilance and communication with your child are critical. General Consumer Alertspublished on 12.28.2007 at 9:15 am Millions of toys, many made in China, have been recalled. Please make sure that your Holiday is safe by checking your toy purchases against the recall lists. If you take or have taken Premarin,... You Gotta Have UMpublished on 12.12.2007 at 10:10 am
When most consumers buy automobile insurance they focus on buying sufficient liability insurance. Having adequate liability insurance coverage is important to protect our assets in the event we cause an accident resulting in injuries. Most consumers, however, do not know about another equally important insurance coverage. That is, uninsured motorist coverage. Be Safe - Check Your Chartpublished on 11.28.2007 at 10:44 am Most patients who are in a hospital probably think that their medical history is accurately stated in their chart. This may not be true. In fact, physicians have recently noted that, after receiving medical treatment, their medical records contained numerous mistakes. A recent article in the Friday, November 23, 2007 Atlanta Journal Constitution addressed these concerns. First, Do No Harm?published on 11.20.2007 at 10:19 am A well-known medical adage. Some product defense lawyers, however, appear to follow no such guiding principle. In a paper published recently, "Tobacco industry lawyers as ‘disease vectors,’" public health researchers found that some lawyers who defend the tobacco industry have actually helped spread disease through their litigation tactics, which helped the industry conceal public health hazards and avoid legal accountability. Kicking You While You Are Down - ERISApublished on 11.16.2007 at 2:06 pm Millions of employees in the United States receive health insurance benefits through their employer under a plan governed by a federal statute known as ERISA. Employees who have a healthcare plan which is subject to ERISA can suffer devastating consequences if they are injured and receive medical benefits under the plan. There go those lawyers again...published on 11.9.2007 at 10:58 am There is an interesting article in Wednesday’s New York Times which highlights the efforts of Pakistani lawyers to preserve democracy in a now embattled country. For centuries, lawyers (and judges), have taken up unpopular causes, and many times, have been the "bulwark against tyranny" around the world. FDA Action Alertpublished on 11.8.2007 at 2:46 pm A federal advisory commission created in response to concerns about recalls of dangerous products, toothpaste, dog food and toys, including many from China, will recommend to President Bush that the Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) be empowered to order mandatory recalls of products deemed a risk to consumers. |
